| Loctite instant self-forming sealants provide a perfect seal between components, with maximum face-to-face contact, eliminating flange face corrosion. A low-pressure seal is formed immediately on assembly, with full cure in 24 hours giving a joint that won't shrink, crack or relax.
Benefits of Loctite Gasketing products:
- No shimming effect - controlled tolerances, no need for re-torquing
- Fill all voids - reduce the need for a fine surface finish
- Replace conventional gaskets - reduce inventory
- Single part - easy and clean to use
- High resistance to solvents
- Parts can be disassembled easily even after extended service
- Resists high pressure when fully cured
Gaskets prevent leakage of liquids or gases by forming impervious barriers between mating flanges. Loctite FIP (Formed-In-Place) gaskets begin as liquids which are applied to one of the flange joint surfaces. When parts are assembled, the FIP material flows into voids, gaps, and scratch marks, forming a durable seal after cure.
Two common types of FIP materials are RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanizing) silicones, best suited for large gap applications and stamped metal assemblies where flange flexing occurs, and anaerobic compounds, best suited for small gap applications and rigid metal to metal assemblies. |
