Keeps oil in, Dirt out
Elastomer coated inner and outer faces of Blue Diamond heavy duty shaft seals (NAK Type AO, AJ and AP) ensure intimate contact with both shaft and housing. This remains true even though the surfaces may be rough and worn. An integral sleeve takes care of imperfections and ensures a fresh running surface every time a seal is renewed.
An extended face plate coupled with a multiplicity of internal seal lips positively isolates oil or hydraulic fluids on one side from water, dust or dirt on the other. Keeping out abrasive muck is important to avoid accelerated wear on working parts of construction and agricultural equipment; while effective containment of lubricating fluids is vital to prevent contamination in food processing.
Cavities between the lips are filled with grease to aid smooth running, to improve sealing efficiency, and to prolong seal life.
Seal composition is nitrile rubber moulded on a steel reinforcing core, coupled with a garter spring which allows the seal to flex when accommodating axial movement between the rotating shaft and the stationary seal housing. Blue Diamond’s design deliberately sets out to simplify maintenance in situations which might aggravate wear, with emphasis on easy installation with minimal preparation and generous tolerances on mating. |

Special seals can be manufactured to customer specification, provided at least 20mm is allowed between internal and external diameters. Various elastomer compounds can be supplied, including food grade materials.
Preventing leakage of lubricants inside the mechanism where they perform a useful function on heavy construction machinery is only part of the duty of an oil seal. It is equally important to keep water, dirt and other contaminants out.

Active elements of the NAK Type AO, AJ and AP shaft seals are a metal reinforced moulding of nitrile rubber on a steel core, coupled with a garter spring. It is a multi-lipped prelubricated seal used in conjunction with an integral wear sleeve. The innermost section remains stationary on the shaft, while the outer part rotates with the bearing cage.
Virtues of the construction include an ability to flex to allow for axial movement between shaft and housing, long service life with excellent exclusion of moisture and dust, and easy maintenance to suit conditions which might impose aggravated shaft wear. |
